is there a difference between sigs and banners?

i was just wondering if there is any difference between a sig and a banner? if there is what is the difference?

the banner goes in your sig and also in the sig you can put mini and quotes of people stuff like that.

The sig is basically just your 'signature' of every post that you make. Majority of members elect to insert an image, or banner in forum terms, into their signature, along with some text. Hope that answers your query
