Love it. Punk's reign was boring, JBL can bring prestige and name value to the title since you know he'll be featured on Raw most weeks than not.
I'm shocked I haven't seen whinging threads of how Punk's been "underpushed and devalued" etc. ____________________________________________________________

Yeah, he's one of the few men left who can be Grandslam Champions. I think Regal can if he wins the WWE title. Matt Hardy could if he won the IC and WWE titles. There are a few others I'm sure.
Basically, unless they bring back the European Title, there will be no new Grandslam Champions in a few years. At least we can take solace in the fact that Jeff Hardy is the only man ever to win the WWE, IC, European, Lightheavyweight, Hardcore, and Tag Team Championships.

I wouldn't necessarily say it is a step-back, but more a step-down for Bradshaw. He has been floating about the fringes of the top-end of the card for a good while, yet now he is stuck in the mid-card bracket.
I'd also hold off on saying that this will bring prestige back to the title. Everyone (myself included) thought that would be the case with Regal and when he mixed it up with Punk. Although they managed to balls that one up by blowing their load too early (3 matches in 3 weeks). Plus the IC division is still lacking a bit in depth/general interest unless they bolster it with the draft.
Strange timing taking it off Punk too, as it takes away a lot of his momentum going into MITB. Unless they are going to have him win it, but I'd doubt it.

if I recal right, only one person still with the E can become a grandslam champ and that is like you said: regal
also, val venus can be a grand slam champ is he signs again and wins the big one lol

Well, Matt Hardy needs the IC and WWE titles. So he's technically still a potential Grand Slam Champion. I know that idea really gets some people excited. Oh and if Mark Henry wins a world title, tag title, and the IC title, he's a Grand Slam Champion. There are way more than listed on Wikipedia. It's just that Regal and Christian are probably the most likely.

Grand Slam is --- World Championship, IC title, European Title, Tag Team Title. At least thats what they referred to for Shawn Michaels.
I think Hardcore could be counted as well.
